It’s not always easy to make stoner movies. Cannabis users can spot posers a mile away, so stoner comedies need to be able to deliver authentically. Plenty of flops out there can attest to that. But countless more exist that can deliver a truly belly-shaking lampooning of cannabis culture.
As any true stoner knows, the best way to enjoy one of these comedies is with a hefty dose of high-grade cannabis. And the holiday season is the perfect time for some extra merriment. Why not queue up a joint, a movie, and some friends or family after the last slice of pumpkin pie?
Our Favorite Stoner Comedies
Often, we’ll cover scientific topics on our blog, like the differences between THC and CBD or profiles on terpenes. We’re going for something different in this post. Instead, we’re going to share some of our favorite stoner movies. Not only that, but we’re also going to include strain pairings to get the most out of your experience.
A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas
The third installment in the annals of Harold and Kumar’s adventures, A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas is also the last entry in this illustrious stoner comedy series.
The movie’s plot sees the titular heroes squaring off against Russian mobsters. Hilarity ensues, of course, and beloved gags and characters make their appearances, including series regular Neil Patrick Harris.
While it may not enjoy the same reputation as the first two installments in its series, A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas definitely delivers the gift of laughter. Enjoy it best with the festive, minty vibes of Chocolate Mint OG.
Half Baked
If you’re looking for one of the OG best stoner movies to watch while high, you’ll find it in Half Baked. Released in 1998, it’s one of the films that helped to define the stoner comedy genre.
Half-baked is definitely a great movie in its own right. But it’s also difficult to separate this film from one of its breakout stars: Dave Chapelle. It follows his character, Thurgood Jenkins (also known as Sir-Smokes-A-Lot) and his friends on their quest to save their friend from the clutches of the ’90s stoner’s greatest natural predator: the police.
To get the most out of Half Baked, spark up something that all the characters in this movie wished they had in the 1990s: Legalized OG.
Dude, Where’s My Car?
While not overtly a stoner comedy, Dude, Where’s My Car definitely deserves a place on this list.
The movie follows Jesse (Ashton Kutcher) and Chester (Seann William Scott) on their journey to find Jesse’s car after a night of partying. Amusing misadventures , including the two heroes discovering new tattoos, ordering Chinese food, and saving the universe by finding the Continuum Transfunctioner. Didn’t see that last one coming?
There’s just one question left after the credits roll. What could it possibly have been that made Jesse and Chester space their epic night? We think the delectable vibes of Headcase Haze may have had something to do with it.
Already seen the entries on this list? No worries. We have another list of the best stoner movies to watch while high on 420 that you can check out. And if you’re looking for strains other than the ones we recommended here, you can browse our full selection online.
