Once upon a time, the stereotype about people who enjoyed cannabis was that they were inactive. You’ve probably heard every name in the book and then some: Pothead. Couch potato. Stoner. Weedhead. The list goes on, and on, and on.
We’d like to change that. In fact, one of the reasons we started Greenside was to get rid of those old labels.
Sure, we love kicking back with the velvet hammer of a high-THC indica (like the Pearl Scout Cookies we’re currently digging) or the full-body melt brought on by a touch of the Thunderstick.
But most of all, we love integrating the beneficial effects of cannabis into our active, everyday lives. And here in the incredibly green leafiness of the Pacific Northwest, that usually means hiking.
Worried about rain? We humbly suggest you do as true Washingtonians do: Enjoy the primeval beauty of hiking in Des Moines and leave the umbrella at home. There’s nothing quite like taking in the majesty of an ancient forest as life-giving water washes you down from above. Bring a rain shell and some warm clothes and you’re guaranteed an epic experience.

The Des Moines Creek Trail

It may not offer your full-throttle hiking experience, but the gentle curves of the paved Creek Trail are one of our favorite places to while away an hour or two hiking in Des Moines. No thrills, no amenities, just a sweet little hike right in the heart of Des Moines.
Angle Lake Park
19408 International Blvd
SeaTac, WA 98188
Okay, we’ll admit it: This park doesn’t offer a great deal in terms of the classic PNW hiking experience. But we included it on our list because it’s a no-brainer destination if you have young kids in your party, who likely aren’t into a full-on trek through the woods. This charming little park includes a water-spray feature, playground, and a boat launch into the pretty little lake that gives it its name.
