Summer is upon us, and that means it’s time for another beloved Emerald City tradition: The Bite of Seattle. The annual smorgasbord is a must-attend for local foodies, and it’s a favorite of the Greenside Recreational staff.
Seriously, we can’t think of a better place to have the munchies.
This year, more than 60 of the best restaurants from around the Sound will assemble at Seattle Center for the food fest, so you’re sure to find something perfect for your palate. Adventurous eaters can opt for truly wild dishes like the alligator on a stick from New Orleans Cookery, or Trophy Spice’s charbroiled elk burgers, while left-of-center gluttons will find it hard to resist the flavor anarchy of Deano’s Grill’s Krispy Kreme bacon cheese burger. But have no fear, there will be plenty of fare for fans who don’t want to go totally ballistic. Some of our favorites include Kaleenka’s pillowy beef and cheese piroshki, the chicken and artichoke crepe from Crepe Tyme, and Agave Cocina’s pork adobada tacos. Trust us, until you’ve had the Mexican staple made with a fresh, handmade tortilla, you haven’t really lived. And given that vendors will have a tasting portion available for under four bucks, you’ll be able to indulge every craving without breaking the bank.
The best part of the Bite of Seattle is undoubtedly walking around stuffing your face, but there’s plenty of other stuff on the menu this year. All weekend, seasoned veterans and up-and-coming local chefs will face off in The Bite Cooks: Master challenge, hosted by Thierry Rautureau of Loulay Kitchen & Bar. Mystery ingredients and a 30-minute time limit mean all the competitors will bring their A game, and unlike Top Chef, audiences will get to sample the dishes. Along with the competition, there will also be music across five stages, craft beer and cider tasting, and a free outdoor screening of Jurassic World on Friday, July 15th.
As always, your friendly budtenders at Greenside Recreational will be standing by to help customers with anything they need to properly prep for the Bite of Seattle, so whether you’re looking for flowers, concentrates or edibles, make sure to stop by before you head to Seattle Center!
The Bite of Seattle runs Friday, July 15th to Sunday, July 17th at Seattle Center
