Seattle is one of the major gateways to the Pacific Rim: A bustling, international city where you can find seemingly everything in the world. The same goes for its food scene: From exquisite Japanese to vibrant Vietnamese to soulful Indian and many other cuisines, Seattle’s a hotbed of world-class Asian cuisine. These days—more than ever—variety is the spice of life. So we’ve put together a list of a few of our favorite Seattle Asian restaurants for you to try out.
Greenside Recreational’s Favorite Seattle Asian Restaurants
Teasome
6412 Phinney Ave N
Seattle, WA 98103
(206) 913-2961
Small plates and tea are the name of the game at this no-frills (but lively) little hole in the wall. From the irresistible “Nori Fries” (piping-hot French fries dusted with dried seaweed, served with Japanese-style mayo) to the garlicky Vietnamese chicken wings in a sweet-salty glaze, there’s no end of delicacies to sample. As of September 2020, currently open for takeout and contactless delivery.
Sushi Tokyo
6311 Roosevelt Way NE
Seattle, WA 98115
(206) 522-4601
In a city with many sushi options, this comfy and laid-back Green Lake joint delivers the goods with flair. You’ll find all the usual suspects here—jubilantly fresh salmon, tuna, albacore and other nigiri—plus some extra-special rolls. We were skeptical about the “Aloha Roll” until we tried it: Fresh tuna and avocado get nutty—literally—with crunchy macadamias and a wrapping of springy soybean sheet. As of September 2020, the restaurant is open for takeout and contactless delivery.
Chutneys Bistro
1815 N 45th St
Seattle, WA 98103
(206) 634-1000
We’ve written about Chutneys before, but they’re an Indian restaurant worth keeping an eye on. As if the crisp veggie samosas and rich chicken korma weren’t enough, the restaurant now offers a selection of all-organic items, a first among Seattle’s Indian restaurants. Many of the dishes can be made vegan as well, making this one surprising little bistro indeed. As of September 2020, the restaurant is open for takeout and contactless delivery only.
Lucky’s Pho
3414 Fremont Ave N
Seattle, WA 98103
(206) 547-5125
Somehow, pho snuck up on America to become its newest comfort food. Originally hailing from Hanoi, the rich (but never heavy) beef-and-noodle soup is no less popular in Seattle, and it’s rarely as good as it is at Lucky’s. This well-loved neighborhood joint serves the many standard iterations, plus chicken and veggie options for those so inclined. But don’t forget banh mi, Vietnam’s protein-packed and pepper-spiked little sandwiches, or cooling bowls of vermicelli salads served with fresh veggies or flavorful grilled meats. As of September 2020, the restaurant is open for distanced dining, takeout and delivery.
