Auburn, WA City Recreational Cannabis Dispensary
Auburn is a unique Pacific Northwest community and Seattle suburb located primarily in King County, Washington, with a small section of the city in Pierce County. Local residents have immense pride for the city — and they have good reason to.
A city of more than 70,000 residents, Auburn is the fourteenth largest city in Washington. Described as “the land of two rivers, a home to two nations, that’s spread across two counties,” Auburn has been a popular tourist destination and place to call home since 1891.
Conveniently located in the heart of the Green River Valley and the shadow of Mt. Rainier between Seattle and Tacoma, Auburn is an ideal place to live, work, and play. The community is known to be warm and welcoming, with a rich cultural history where you’ll find a blend of old and new. Dozens of vibrant new businesses and a modern facade harmoniously coexist with the quaint and charming historic downtown.
To the west of Auburn are the cities of Algona, Federal Way, and Pacific, while unincorporated King County borders the east. The city of Kent is north of the city, and the Muckleshoot Indian Reservation borders the southern part of the city.
Having added 114,000 residents over the last decade, Seattle is the fastest-growing big city the U.S., which predictably has caused massive traffic congestion. Fortunately, visitors and residents can avoid the hassle by taking the Sounder Train to Seattle. The journey to Seattle is just 20 minutes, with nine trips in the morning and evening between Auburn and Seattle.
Auburn was first incorporated as Slaughter, Washington, after the prophetically named Lt. William Slaughter. In 1855, Slaughter was killed in a fight with a local tribe of Native Americans, who are now part of the Muckleshoot Tribe. At the time, the town’s most popular hotel was called the “Slaughter House.” Some years later, in 1893, a large contingent of New York settlers moved to the town, renaming it Auburn.
Given Auburn’s rich history, it’s no surprise the town is home to several National and State Registers of Historic Place. One of the best known designated historic places is the Neely Mansion.
Auburn is also close to some of the Northwest’s best skiing. Mt. Rainier, Crystal Mountain, and the Snoqualmie Ski Area are only an hour away. Plus, there are 30 parks and three golf courses within the city for more recreational opportunities.
